Two Poems
[new order]
I’m in ecstasy; my order has shipped;
an instant later my doorstep’s ablaze
with whatever it was I wanted when
reminded it was good to want; take all
you can get out of this final epoch;
my method lately to stack ununboxed
forevermore; the receipt tenderly
placed in a folder named “things i own”;
today I’ve entombed myself with proper stuff;
itch-creams; a respirator; wholesome nuts;
a book regarding where it all went wrong
and how not to sweat it; poetry aids;
granola bars with chia seeds; batteries;
it’s hard to fake this utter lack of knowledge
[pillow]
the side effects pass; insomnia to death;
this isn’t so much of a moment is it;
is that music; it sounds like punching sand;
the seeds scorch when they leave the sowing hand;
I’ve fallen and I can’t get up; I’m up;
I can’t believe they still call it weather;
I can’t believe they still call it gender;
it lacks the efficiency of simple plunder;
even when sleeping I’m a little carsick;
look at this pillow; this dented fender;
escape yourselves by going in; deep guts;
wet pumps; invisible pushing me around;
it pulls you back; it was a lovely rest
but now it’s over; really it’s quite over
