Maxine Chernoff

Maxine Chernoff has written twenty books of poems and six works of fiction. Her newest is “Light and Clay,” MadHat Press. An NEA and PEN Translation Award winner, she was a visiting writer at Exeter U in England and at the American Academy in Rome. Former editor of New American Writing, she was a CW professor at SFSU from 1994 to 2024.
